There are two main sporting events that take place in the community. A soccer tournament in the summertime and a basketball tournament that occurs twice a year, once in the summer and once in the winter. The soccer tournament to is commemorate a national hero named Pawo Thupten Ngodup who is a martyr that sacrificed his life for the country. The Pawo Thupten Ngodup Memorial Cup is held at Allan A. Lamport Stadium in Toronto every summer between the months of July and August. There are usually 8 to 10 teams that participate in the tournament. Teams are made up of friends or different sports clubs from players' place of origin like the Norbulinga Sports Club from Jawalakhel, Kathmandu, Nepal. The tournament has been running for decades now and is one of the most awaited sporting events in the community. The basketball tournaments however is one of the more popular sport events among the youth. The winter basketball tournament which takes place between the end of December and the first week of January is organized by different people each year but is almost a tradition by now, however the summer basketball tournament is set up by Lungta or in conjunction with Pro Action Cops & Kids program sponsored by the Toronto Police Service. There are about 6 to 8 teams that participate regularly and is sometimes also joined by other teams from the United States. These sporting events help the youth participate and partake in different activities that unites the community together, builds relationships and brings each other closer.
